Behind the Scenes | November Recap

I sincerely apologise for being missing all through November…

Life moved on in a hurry, and I haven’t had the time to stop and articulate where I am. Hoping this will be a jam-packed post full of interesting anecdotes for you all!

I turned 26

Yep, I am officially in my mid-to-late 20’s. How did that happen? I still feel like I left school only a couple of years ago, when in fact, it is over 9 years since I left school!

My birthday is November 2nd, so I share my birthday with Halloween weekend most years. As usual I spent my birthday weekend dressed up and suitably squiffy with groups of wonderful people! My poor feet were suffering after all the dancing on the Friday, and my head wasn’t doing so well either! But I kept going to make the most of the weekends antics.

❤ Friday I expressed my “evil” side as Maleficent, using the Angelina Jolie version as reference for my home-made outfit and makeup.
I adored creating this look, I wish I could rock this every day! While preparing my outfit weeks before, I also finished up a painting of Maleficent and Aurora, in tribute to the reimagined wonderful story behind Sleeping Beauty. Hope you like it! It is going to be for sale on my Etsy store very soon!

❤ Saturday I dressed as a Cheshire Cat at my dear friends Danni and Si’s cottage, hidden in the deep and darkest depths of the Forest of Dean. They always put on an awesome house party, and as expected we got to enjoy Halloween Luxury! We enjoyed a soggy bouncy castle (damn the weather), a spooky ice sculpture, using chain saws to remove bottle tops (seriously), Shot Roulette, plenty of scrummy food and tipsy chatter!
My Cheshire Cat makeup was also a lot of fun to create, although VERY messy!

Redundancy is “Official”

We have known for a while it was going to happen, but I personally only received my official end date a week or so ago. I have 8 working days left (12th December is the final day), after 4 and a half years of being part of this wonderfully crazy bunch of people. Everyday is a struggle now, so slow, quiet and sad with all the goodbyes. It is not helping my job hunting motivation feeling this sad, but maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet…

Recharging my ‘Social Batteries’

I have been getting out and about to try to get my mind off of the stress of redundancy. I have become a bit of a recluse this year, terrible at keeping in touch with friends and family, and generally keeping myself away from most social situations. Obviously this is down to being super busy with commissions, building my brand as Lady Gabe, job searching, completing courses.
Cheltenham Races to celebrate Hollie’s (of Pixie Stone fame) belated  birthday was a blast! There were a lot of open-mouthed selfies during the cold day as you will see from below.

Dan the man came up trumps for my birthday, and bought me a ticket to a Vintage Beauty Workshop at Smokey Joes in Cheltenham, courtesy of Betty Noir Photography! This is an absolute must for any ladies in need of a bit of a boost. We got to try out several new looks and I can finally do my very own killer victory rolls! Result!

Finally…

I did my very first Craft Stall!

Yes!! I am so proud I pushed myself past the nerves and took the plunge to put my work out there! Had a fantastic day, and made a healthy profit (although I spent most of it buying items from the other attending traders).

There is a bit of a theme here, the craft fair was also held at Smokey Joes Cheltenham again! Honestly one of the best little venues in Cheltenham, it is hidden away between the small Tesco and the Brewery in Cheltenham (Smokey Joes / Ken Joynes & Son Ltd, 15-17 Bennington St, Cheltenham, GL50 4ED). Great food, retro style with the perfect playlist to relax to!

The other traders showcasing their work on the day were such a great bunch to network with! The day flew by with lots of chatter between us, who knew this small bubble in the South West could hold such a wealth of interesting, unique and inspiring individuals!
